Wearable Holiday Look

This is the first of two or three looks that I will be doing for the holiday season. I really like this look because of the strong lip, sparkles and the gold. My earrings were a gift from YouTube's Nymphette415 (a.k.a. my YT Twin) from her new business b cocky. She hand makes feather extensions and earrings, check her out!!

Steam Punk Nail Tutorial

This look was inspired by YouTube's Makeupbyrisa's Grunge nail tutorial. It is similar to my zebra tutorial except faster and easier! I have worn this look in several videos and people have asked about my nails and I keep pointing them to Makeupbyrisa's video. So I decided to show the way I actually do the look because it slightly differs from her method.

Naughty on Xmas Day

I am excited to say that this is a small collaboration with JeanFrancoisCD on YouTube for holiday makeup looks! The theme is naughty or nice on xmas day, and I, of course, chose naughty; which means that Jean-Francois has created a nice look. The look I did can be a little too dramatic for most, but you can always not use tape and use more natural false lashes to tone down the look. You can see his nice look here.

New Hair!!

I finally decided to change my hair!! I usually change my colour or cut every 6 months, but I've been uninspired. I was talking about going platinum for a few months but was still unsure about it until I saw an Asian girl with short blonde hair with her dark roots grown in a bit and it looked awesome! I was sold!

I prepped my hair first by applying a Aphogee's protein treatment the night before to help my hair colour lift as evenly as possible. My ends probably still had some black colour and parts of my hair were already bleached, then coloured magenta and then a blue/purple. My stylist had to bleach my hair twice and then apply a toner to take down the yellow. My roots were white but the parts that were still a bit brassy were the ends where the black and magenta/purple were. So the next night I used Special Effects Mixer/Toner (Canada USA) to try and take down even more of the yellow. This will have to be a regular treatment to keep the the yellow at bay. I also read good things about John Frieda's Sheer Blonde Colour Renew Tone-Restoring Shampoo on Makeupalley.com, which is a purple shampoo meant for toning down brassiness in blonde hair, so I invested in a tube of the shampoo.

Sigma Complete Kit with Brush Roll Review

Sigma sent me the Complete Kit with Brush Roll and several additional brushes for free to review. The price, selection and quality of Sigma brushes makes it almost ridiculous to purchase MAC brushes. The brush roll is absolutely beautiful. It had a weird smell at first, but after a few days the smell disappeared. I do not regularly use all the brushes that come with the Complete Kit because I have particular brush types that I like using and not all are included in the kit. However, I did use almost all of them throughout the past month on myself and at school.

All of the brushes have had very little shedding. The majority of the natural hair brushes were second cut/mix brushes, which means that they were cut to the shape instead of hand sculpted into their shape. The ferrules are double crimped and a solid tube, which makes for a solid brush that will not easily loosen from the handle.

The first brush in my review is the F30. This brush is similar to the MAC 150. I rarely use this brush because I prefer to use the F25 because I find it to be more precise. However, this brush is a very dense soft second cut brush with great snap (snaps back into shape).

The F50 is a soft, dense duo-fibre brush that is great for applying cream foundations, blushes, bronzers, etc. I do not use duo fibre brushes often.

The F40 is a natural hair angled contouring brush. It is identical to the MAC 168. I do not regularly contour my face and and at school we contour with cream foundations or concealors so I have not had much use for this brush as of yet.

The F60 is an excellent synthetic foundation brush. I have used it several times at school and it leaves minimal streaking, perhaps because it is so dense. It is firm and the ends are soft.

The F70 is a small concealor brush that would be great for concealing blemishes and veins. It is a firm brush with soft ends. However, a larger brush would be more useful for concealing under the eye, which is the majority of what I have been concealing.

The E70 is a general natural haired angled eye contouring brush. I have never liked using this style of brush because I prefer to use a 217 or 226 for eyeshadow application to the crease. This being said, it does feel like a solid brush.

The E60 is one of my favourite brushes in the kit. It is a firm flat natural hair brush that works wonderfully for packing on eyeshadow. The loof is smooth and a perfect size for a all-over-lid application.

I prefer the E55 to the MAC 239E because it is soft and will not stain as easily as the 239. I find the 239 to be too scratchy. This brush is useful for general eyeshadow application. I could probably do my whole eye with this brush if I had to. It is great for packing shadows on and some general blending because of it's softness.

The E40 is a natural haired blending brush. I do not use either the 224 or the E40 because I prefer the 217 for blending and application. Many people, including me, use the E40 for applying concealor under the eye and blending shadows up to the brow.

The E30 is a natural haired firm pencil brush. It is great for precision application of eyeshadow, applying shadow on the lower lid or inner corner of the eye. I find it to be more tapered than my 219E.

The E65 is a lovely synthetic angled liner brush. It is more comparable to the 263 than the 266 because it is synthetic. I generally do not like to use these for liner, I prefer a fine tipped brush. I do like to use this style of brush for brows, but I do like a synthetic/natural blend brush for my brows because I use powder to fill my brows in.

The E05 is a synthetic liner brush. It is like the MAC 209. I have not tried this brush yet because I prefer to use my MAC 210. This brush looks too thick to apply eyeliner, unless you want a thick liner of course.

The E25 is my favourite brush! I like it even more than my MAC 217. You can never have enough of these brushes! The brush is identical to the 217 and maybe even better because it is a little more firm. These brushes are excellent for applying and blending eyeshadow in the crease and above. The only complaint I have for the E25 and 217 is that they stain SO easily.

The E50 is a must have for blending! I always apply my brow highlight with this style brush because it can blend so easily and beautifully! The only difference between the two brands is that the E50 is rounder, while the 227 is more tapered.

The F25 is a natural haired brush that is excellent for applying powder. It is great because it can easily reach into the crooks of the nostrils which is important when using cream foundations. I much prefer this brush to the F30 because of it's precision.

The F35 is a small tapered natural hair brush. This is also great for applying powder on a smaller scale. Maybe to set under eye concealor or powder around the nose again.

The F80 is another one of my favourite must-have brushes! It applies foundations beautifully with an almost airbrushed finish. It is a synthetic kabuki-like brush that is very dense and soft. Amazing brush, I will for sure be buying more of these.

Overall, I am impressed with these brushes. I will be buying the Premium Professional Kit because I find the majority of the brushes included to be very useful. I will probably eventually buy more brushes as my makeup kit grows because of the practicality of working on set with multiple people.

Feeling Blue and Naked!

I finally got around to using my Urban Decay Naked Palette for a tutorial. I am impressed with this palette. I usually detest neutrals. The only reason I purchased this palette is because the Sephora sales associate offered the palette to me before it was released...so of course I had to get it then! I figured in my head that I would never need to purchase neutrals for myself again if I purchased this palette...HA! Anyway, I couldn't just wear neutrals, I needed to spice it up with a bright colour. :)

It's Haul Time Again!

Haul

It has been a while since my last haul and I had quite a few items to cover so in order to not bore everyone to death I had to cut out some lashes and the Urban Decay Naked Palette.

The first items I talk about are my new MAC lip products. I purchased a few of them from a CCS in Washington state and the others from my MAC Pro store. I purchased Electric Edge Lipglass, Supreme Lipglass, 3N Lipglass, Little VI Lustreglass, Luscious Spark Dazzleglass, Ban This Lipglass, Go For It Lipstick, Smash Hit Dazzle Lipstick.

Swatches are on my husband as it was easier for me to photograph his arm, as opposed to photographing my arm (he had to make it look masculine). :)

Lips

I also purchased two new blushes, which I rarely do. I purchased the popular Nars Orgasm, which is a pink blush with gold sparkle. I am not too impressed with Nars products, including this one. I decided that I do not like blushes with sparkle because they emphasize my pores more than I would like. While pretty in the pan, I probably will not wear it often. I also purchased MAC's Coygirl blush. I love this matte mauve colour! It adds a little colour to my cheeks and it is a perfect replacement for my favourite Paula's Choice Healthy Blush when it runs out!

I picked up a few of MAC's Pro Chromalines, Rich Purple and Process Magenta. They are more like Paintpots than Fluidlines and they make excellent bases. At my local theatrical makeup supply store, StudioFX, I purchased a generic brand Chromacolor in a chartreuse colour, which is essentially exactly the same as a Chromaline. It's half the price with my discount and has 3g more product.

Eyes

I purchased several eyeshadows from the Pro store and the CCS. I purchased Sassy Grass, Shock-a-holic, Indian Ink and Vibrant Grape. I also swatched MUFE #92 to show how it compares to Shock-a-holic. Shock-a-holic may look similar in the pan but it applies more red and less vibrant. Still a beautiful colour though.

MAC Shadows

I placed an order online for a few of the popular Sugarpill shadows. I ordered three, Poison Plum, Dollipop and Love +. I love the colours and I am sure that I will get a lot of use out of them. Amy/Shrinkle personally signed the receipt and included a sticker, and two business cards.  I swatched the colours next to similar colours that I already had.

Shadows 2

The last items I swatched were my NFU Oh 51 & 52 nail polishes!! Beautiful! They are iridescent polishes with metalic flakes in them. They are much prettier than I could capture in my photos and I should have polished all my nails in the same colour, but I was trying to save time...I will remember next time! I purchased them form Fabuloustreet.com.

Glam Rock Makeup Tutorial

I decided to do a simple yet rockin' look and I came up with this. It is a bit scene-ish, but I think it looks like glamorous rock 'n' roll. It's simple because it only uses a base and two eyeshadow colours (not including the brow highlight) and bright lips for a punch of colour. :)

My First Haul Video!!

I finally decided to do a haul video! I will start doing haul videos more often. Luckily, these are all products that I like enough to keep.

All

Shadows

Here is the comparison between Revlon's Colorburst lipstick in Lilac and MAC's Up the Amp lipstick. They're the same colour; however, Lilac is more sheer and it has shimmer to it and Up the Amp is more opaque and flat.

Lipsticks

And here is my Nars Strada dupe, Wet 'n' Wild Color Icons single in Kitten. I was pretty unimpressed with Strada. Kitten also does not apply too evenly, however, I am willing to accept it for $2.47 rather than $26.

Ever since I saw Siobhan's (LetzMakeup) Scene tutorial, I've wanted to do pink eyebrows and I finally found a look that suits it! I also wanted to do leopard rosettes on a look, so why not combine them right?
