Halloween OOTD

I decided on wearing my gothic doll/lolita costume again this Halloween. It was a toss up between a zombie or doll, because I had both costumes readily available. It came down to how much time I had to apply makeup. The doll makeup was the quickest so it won. I went for a Dr.'s appointment and out for dinner afterwards in this look. I was a little disappointed in how few people were dressed up downtown, oh well, I had fun! :)

Comparison of MAC Foundations

Over the past few years I have tried several MAC foundations and I wanted to give a little overview of my experience with the foundations and how they compare with each other. I have been a LONG-time customer of MAC. I purchased my first MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in 1994 on a trip to Toronto. Since then I have used six or seven foundations from MAC, several have been discontinued, however, I will review five of their current foundations.

There are slight variations in colour throughout the foundations so it is always best to be matched. I personally liked to be matched to my chest because my neck and face are more pink and it looks as if I am wearing a mask if I am matched to my jawline. All the foundations in the photos are the closest match to my current skin tone.

PinkyParadise.com Circle Lenses + Coupon Code

To my surprise, Pinkyparadise.com recently contacted me to review two pairs of their circle lenses. This was great because I have have on the lookout for a pair of circle lenses with a prescription for a few weeks prior. Pinkyparadice.com ready stocks over 350 circle, natural, enlarging and cosplay lenses. They also carry false lashes, eye makeup, BB cream, facial masks, etc. Pinkyparadise.com is "your eye make up one-stop online beauty store".

I browsed the site and selected their GEO Ultra CK-105 in Black and Geo Xtra WBS-205 Bella Grey 15mm. I also looked for lenses that had a low water content because I have dry eyes (I've read that a low water content is best for dry eyes). They included two super cute lens cases, a pig case and a hippo case, and a unique velcro-like hair "clip" that prevents bends in the hair created by regular hair clips.

Too Faced Exotic Color Intense Eye Shadow Single - Midnight Mist

I was at Sephora the other day and I was looking at the Too Faced display, partially to find a new blush. I came across their Exotic Color Intense Eye Shadow Singles, which were nothing short of amazing. I swatched half of them and they were creamy, opaque and unique. Several of the shadows were duochrome. I fell in love with Midnight Mist, which is a shimmery dark blue with a purple iridescence.

Needless to say, I couldn't wait to take it home and to try it out the next day. Boy, was I disappointed. They must have changed the formula since the testers were put on display. It was much more sheer then at the store and when I tried to blend, it became patchy. It's still a beautiful colour, but the formula leaves much to be desired.

The swatches are no primer on the left, primer on the right and two finger swipes each.

Annabelle Smudgepaints & Smoothie Eyeshadow Pencils

I excitedly received these Smudgepaints and Smoothie Eyeshadow Pencils from Annabelle Cosmetics two weeks ago and I have been using them regularly since. I have been an avid fan of Canadian based Annabelle Cosmetics for years because of their colour selection, availability and affordability. They are one of the few drug store lines, in Canada, that offer bold, edgy cosmetics. They also happen to be a cruetly-free brand (and their parent company Groupe Marcelle).

Smudgepaints - I received five of their gel liner/shadows. They are an extremely creamy gel that, after it dries, does not budge. After I swatched the paints, I rubbed the swatches with my finger to see if they would peel/flake off and they didn't budge. When I have worn Tar as a eyeshadow base (with UDPP) it did not crease through out the day. It comes with an interesting little brush built into the lid. I tried using it to line, but it didn't give an nice clean line so I think it would be better used to smudge the gel.  Suggested retail price: $10.95/2g.

Revlon Royal Cloak and Starry Pink

I was on the search for Revlon's Facets of Fuchsia nail polish (the Deborah Lippmann Bad Romance dupe) from their Expressionists Collection, found it and decided against getting it because I already paid twice the Revlon price for Bad Romance. However,  Revlon's Starry Pink (from the same collection) and Royal Cloak (Masquerade Collection) did catch my eye! I love both formulas as they apply smoothly and dry relatively quick.

Wet n Wild Dream Weaver Collection

I recently received these four Wet n Wild palettes from new blogger KristiWithaK (please show her some love). They are from the Limited Edition Dream Weavers Collection, which was not available in Canada. I don't think any LE Wet n Wild collections are ever available in Canada :'(.

While I am a big fan of Wet n Wild, I only have two of their palettes and I am really not sure why. The elusive Dream Weavers Collection really caught my eye and I sent poor Jacqueline (a.k.a. abrilliantbrunette) on a wild goose chase trying to find the palettes, but to no avail. Then Kristi noticed our conversation on Twitter and offered her unopened palettes. I am so grateful that she was willing to give them to me, she's too kind. <3

Anyway, here are my four Dream Weaver Palettes:

Evil Clown Halloween Tutorial

So I am happy to say that I created my first Halloween tutorial! I came across a few scary clown tutorials this year alread, which made me hesitant to create this look. However, I had already purchased my supplies so I decided to go through with it anyway. I wanted to use supplies that are easily found at Halloween/theatrical supply stores or easily substituted.

I was inspired by Pennywise (from It), Heckles & Twitch and this photo.
