Holiday Makeup With an Edge!

Now that my MacBook Pro is working again, I was able to upload my previously recorded video!

This is a similar look to one that I wore to IMATS tDot. Copper liner with copper glitter. I also showed how I fill in my vulcan brows. :D

Dark Little Pixie

I felt like wearing a wig and my black sclera lenses  today, so I made a dramatic FOTD to boot! I just created a very blown out black smoky eye, added a very dramatic pair of lashes from Sugarpill, gunmetal silver eyebrows, and used Annabelle gel liners on my lips for an iridescent purple effect.

The wig is just a cosplay wig from eBay and I cut a fringe into it.

I don't really have much to say about this look because it was just improvised as I went.

Angel of Death Look

I was so excited when I received my black sclera lenses from Samhain Contact Lenses that I had create a makeup look the next day! I also recorded a sclera lens overview the same proud!

I have been itching to create a creative/extreme look for a few weeks now so when I received the lenses I was totally inspired to create a speed tutorial. If a look isn't too technical, then I prefer speed tutorials because I can apply the makeup quickly and just wing it.

I received the custom sclera lenses this past weekend and I had to give them a go right away. I am a seasoned lens wearer so popping them in wasn't much of an issue for me, just a little more awkward than a regular lens. Removing them is actually easier to remove than a regular soft lens. I have inserted my sclera lens overview at the bottom of this post.

I used some Stilazzi, some Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, a little Sugarpill and even a little......GLITTER!

Purple Fu©kYeahVulcan Eyebrows!

I decided to use mostly Sugarpill Cosmetics to create a dark smoky eye and purple eyebrows today. I feel that dark smoky eyes suit me the most and reflect my personal style the best. I also added Sugarpill's purple Angel Baby false lashes.

Simple Yet Dramatic Winged Liner

I felt that I needed to post a new FOTD because it's been a little while. I was busy with buying a house and I went to IMATS Toronto this past weekend, so I have been quite busy! I hope to record my haul from Vancouver and Toronto's IMATS' tomorrow so keep and eye out! ^_^

I have also been debating on whether or not to start posting to Lookbook. I feel that Lookbook kind of lacks in the rocker-chic/goth area and I have quite a large wardrobe of mainly those particular styles...What do you guys think??

I'm not totally happy with this look, not sure what it is exactly. Meh.

Lots of Lashes and Shxt!

I recently received an order I put in with Sugarpill, which included @#$%! that I've wanted since I missed it at IMATS LA (the title of the post didn't allow me to use the characters so I had to add a shxt instead). I ordered @#$%!, Bulletproof, Tako, Flamepoint and Buttercupcake, and since receiving it, I have used Bulletproof EVERY day. It's not as black as some other black shadows I have, but it's VERY pigmented.

I also added upper and lower lashes that EyeLuvMe kindly sent me for my birthday. I love wearing lower lashes because they add so much drama, even simple/natural looking lower lashes...probably because I have four lower lashes. >_<

I am still enjoying my vulcan eyebrows, don't think I'm going back to arched JUST yet. I am wearing my GEO Ultra CK-105 in Black circle lenses from PinkyParadise.

How I Take Self-Portraits

I often get questions about what camera I use and how I take my FOTD photos so I thought a blog post to cover my procedure would be choice! I'll cover what equipment, camera settings, environment and edits I try to use.

Dramatic Cat Eye

So it's Halloween and I didn't dress up! But I have a good excuse, I just arrived in my new home city of Montreal yesterday and everything is still packed. THERE! :P

Anyway, I took a break and went to the mall today and Halloween is the perfect excuse to wear dramatic makeup (as if I really need one)! I watched Leesha's (xsparkage) Raccoon Eyes tutorial a few weeks ago and I wanted to recreate it, but I was in the middle of moving so I didn't get around to it right away. I've also been on a real winged liner kick so this eye was perfect! It reminds me a little of my Tron Siren Inspired Tutorial from a while back.

I am now in love with the Annabelle Smudge Paint Tar as a black base! I wore this look for almost 8 hours and it was crease free (with Urban Decay Primer Potion).

Deep Purple With Virgin Rose - Hair Update

Time for another hair update! After my last hair update, I was itching for more purple. I was initially reserved about how much Special Effects Deep Purple I was going to add to my hair because of the maintenance. I only had 3 or 4 panels coloured, but after a week or so I wanted everything coloured! :D

So I went in for my final visit with my Sarah O'Brien at East Vanity Parlour, *sob*, before I move to Montreal.  I had her cover over the panel of Virgin Rose at my crown so that I could easily touch up the colour myself if I needed too. I kept my fringe it's natural colour so that my forehead doesn't get stained. I also had an inch or so taken off my crown.

I am in love with Special Effects Deep Purple! It's amazing! I didn't have to touch my hair up for the whole 1.5 months since my last appointment and I am sure that I could have gone twice as long if I wanted.

My hair is still a little frizzy from being bleached out a few days ago, but it eventually smooths after a week or two.

Notice my new elven brows?? ;)

My Name is Heather and I am Addicted to Vampires!

I decided to do a Halloween FOTD today. I watched HayzStrawberry's Half and Half Tutorial (please go and subscribe to this talented MUA) this morning and I totally gave me an itch to do black and white look!

Also, I love how hot vampires are and after my vampire tutorial and being turned into a vampire with prosthetics yesterday, I really wanted to do ANOTHER version of my vampire.

I am wearing my black GEO Ultra CK105 lenses from and for a shot I also had in my GEO Animation Lenses in white from

I couldn't apply makeup directly around my new vertical labret so I had to do a little photoshopping around it.

Drag Queen Vampire

Here is my first Halloween tutorial of the year...well, I have made a few videos this year that could be considered Halloween tutorials...

This look was created because I have always wanted to do a vampire look and I have had quite a few requests to do looks similar to my The Hunger Games "Capitol" looks. I broke out the airbrush and Stilazzi compressor for this video, which I always love using.

I am also wearing my favourite lenses of ALL TIME, from, the Super Pinky Bright Red lenses.

I realized after recording that my white balance and shutter speed were off for most of the video. FML. So I did my best to adjust it in FCP X.

Seeing RED!!

Hi everyone! I have an FOTD for you today. It's been a while because lots has been happening in my life; we went on vacation to Europe, we sold our condo and we are in the midst of moving to Montreal towards the end of October!

I decided to bust out my MUFE Aqua Liner in Iridescent Red (10) that I purchased at IMATS Vancouver. It is a little sheer and it really is iridescent with a gold shimmer. I added a black wing to adhere my eyeLuvMe Elly faux lashes to. I decided to go with a nude lip just because I wanted all the attention on the red winged liner. I paired it with my Super Pinky Bright Red lenses from

Also note, my eyebrows are blonde! I still think I look a little alien without filling them in, so I filled them in with MAC's Groundcover eyeshadow, which is a light matte grey. I bleached them so that I could quickly block them when doing Halloween looks.

Hair Update

Recently I had a request on YouTube to make a video or blog post about my haircut and since I've changed up the colour slightly I decided to show some photos of the full cut (minus the pitiful little ponytail).

My stylist, Sarah O'Brien, at East Vanity Parlour recently added some panels of Special Effects Deep Purple for me. It is the darkest purple EVER! LOL! I've shampooed my hair 5 times in warm water so far and it's still very deep. Since it's so subtle, I think next time I go for a root touch up, I'm going to get to her to colour the rest of my hair Deep Purple. It's a beautiful warm purple...and deep, just like the name.

Right now it's a shaggy mullet. I'm possibly waiting for the side to grow out long enough to maybe even it out a little more. I have a micro-fringe (as I call it) that goes all the way across my forehead and about 1.5 into my hairline, and a TON of texture cut in. My hair length probably varies from 2" to 6" all over because of all the texture. The magenta colour is still my signature Special Effects Virgin Rose and the dark brown colour is my natural hair colour.

Feathered Liner Tutorial

So I decided to create a tutorial on the feathered liner FOTD from last week. I love this look and I think I'll be rockin' it often because it's actually pretty simple and quick. It's like a tame version of Black Swan. I changed the shape a little, made it a little more fluid.

I noticed that my liner was wonky in the video.  >_<  I caught it in my first few photos. I debated whether I should redo the video, but I didn't want to record again...

How Shiv Should Have Done It! (FOTD & OOTD)

I have double whammy for you guys today! Not only an FOTD, but an OOTD to boot! Let us begin with my FOTD:

This morning I watched LetzMakeup's new video, Rich, Orange Autumn Eyes tutorial, and it inspired me to recreate it....BUT BETTER. Just kidding (you guys know I love her)! But I did change up a couple colours, and added black liner and lashes (because I have none).  I also wore my Venus Eye in Voilet circle lenses from PinkyParadise. I love these lenses because they are comfortable and subtle.

FOTD: Feathered Liner & Grey Vassen Cloud Nine Lenses

I recently saw a pin from TheGlitterGeek on Twitter with feathered liner. I loved it and I decided to try it out. I am pleased with how it turned out, however, I found the gel liner a bit too dry and I had to compensate some of it with my Ben Nye Cake Liner. I used a lighter grey on my brows to de-emphasize them a little.

I decided to try out the Vassen Cloud Nine circle lenses in grey from PinkyParadise. They are VERY dramatic and I felt like a doll. LOL! But they definitely make an impact similar to FX lenses. I think these will be perfect for a dramatic Halloween look that I am going to make.

FOTD: OCC Hush Lip Tar and Tess Lashes

WOW, I am back with another FOTD! I was inspired to do this look from a grainy photo I saw on Pinterest yesterday. I decided to use another OCC Lip Tar straight, in Hush, which is described as a pale bridal pink (very accurate). It felt a little bright/light for me, but it toned down in the photos. I also used another set of lashes, in Tess, which were just as comfortable as the Krystle pair.

The eye is VERY similar to my Bright Pink and Purple look I did recently, just the purple is more blue toned and the pink is more berry toned.

FOTD: OCC Pretty Boy Lip Tar & Lashes

It's been a while since I've posted an FOTD, mainly because it's been pretty warm here and I've been too lazy to apply a full face of makeup (GASP!). I decided to try out one of the new Lip Tars that Obsessive Compulsive Makeup sent me and a pair of lashes that EyeLuv.Me sent me as well.

The OCC Lip Tar in Pretty Boy is an amazing cool toned pink. Lip Tars have a soft minty scent to them, are a non-sticky liquid that kind of set after a few minutes, and they are SUPER opaque! I can't wait to post more FOTDs with them because they have some beautiful colours and you can mix colours to create even more unique colours.

They lashes were sent as a press kit from, the style I'm wearing is Krystle. I met the lovely ladies from at IMATS LA and they kindly sent me an extremely cute package with several sets of lashes to try out. I am in love with these lashes!! They have an invisible band, flared ends and are very comfortable to wear. They are also very affordable.

Now I am not happy about my eyeshadow at all today...mainly because I am not crazy about shimmery eyeshadows.

Skulltastic Makeup and Lens Village Giveaway!

I posted a photo on Instagram a few weeks ago of my first attempt at skull makeup, and I immediately saw things I didn't like about it (namely the teeth). So after practicing the teeth a second time I was finally satisfied and decided to record it.

The lenses were provided by Lens Village. They are white GEO Animation Lenses. They also kindly sponsored two pairs of lenses to giveaway for all my subscribers. Please go to the tutorial to see how to enter and the rules.

They also provided me with a discount code of 10%: 10SOKOLUM

Inspired Pink and Purple Brightness!

When I posted my Sedona Lace Vortex review, my makeup seemed to outshine the whole review and it was requested that I do a tutorial on the look. It was a look that was inspired by a Pixiwoo tutorial months back and I had created a blog post on it as well in March.

A New Haircut/Sidecut!

A few weeks ago I decided that I didn't really want to grow my hair out into long luxurious girly locks anymore. I'll grow it, but I want to have short parts because I want to keep it edgy looking. So I found a ton of photos for inspiration and I went to Sarah O'Brien at East Vanity Parlour (who happens to be my husband's stylist) last week and she started cutting away. I was heavily inspired by Lisbeth Salander's hair in Fincher's version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, with the shaved sides and very short fringe.

I decided to go with a sidecut, a very short fringe and a VERY textured cut. We were joking around about how we should bleach my hair out and colour it black again to give it more texture since my hair was so silky and healthy. I am debating whether or not to do a little undercut in the back as well, but for now I will pin it up or wear a pitiful little ponytail. What do you think I should do with the back?

I also changed my part, it used to part on my right side, but I wanted to shaved side to be on my photogenic side. I think my hair still has to get used to it because the shaved hair is a little wonky in parts because it has been growing in the other direction. :D

Synthetic Dreadlocks and IMATS LA!

SO now onto the second part of my hair journey...LOL! I removed my extensions a few weeks ago and  I had my revamped synthetic dreads braided in again! I revamped most of them by braiding a thinner piece around them, I made a few longer double ended ones, blended purple and black for others and made a few fluffy popcorn double ended dreads.

I had Solah from Blessed Locks braid them in for me. I am not sure how many we installed, but it's a mix of doubles and singles. We had a good time watching So You Think You Can Dance episodes, listening to music and chatting. She had a great time composing the deliberate random combination of dreads.

Sedona Lace Vortex Professional Makeup Brushes

A few weeks ago Sedona Lace (SL) contacted me and asked if I wanted to try out their new Vortex Professional Brush Set and I enthusiastically accepted because I was drooling over them for a few months, but I've been on a forced brush buying hiatus.  I chose the set with the zipper brush belt.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Vortex set, it was developed with the help of beauty blogger/vlogger/MUA/MBA student MakeupByRenRen. AND we just happen to share a lot of the same brush preferences.

The brush set consists of 13 brushes and a brush belt for $79.95, which is a VERY good price. I used the brushes exclusively for 2 weeks straight (with the except of an angled contour brush). All the ferrules are double crimped and the handles have a nice weight/length to them.

FOTD - Inspired by NikkieTutorials...again. ;)

It's been a while since I've posted an FOTD on here! I've been really into using Instagram for my FOTDs recently because it's so quick. My username is sokolum on Instagram there if you want to follow me, I post photos almost daily if not multiple times.

Anyway, NikkieTutorials posted a teaser of her new tutorial on Instagram the other day and I decided to recreate it because I rarely do a navy blue eye and I LOVE lime green.

Studio Killers "Cherry" Makeup

A few weeks ago a subscriber requested for a makeup tutorial based on the character Cherry from the virtual band Studio Killers. I had never heard of the Studio Killers before, but apparently they were popular in Europe. I checked out their video Eros and Apollo and I was inspired by a pink look that Cherry sported. I really like the different looks she has in the videos so I may do another look later too.

Hair Extension Update & FOTD

I've been on another dry spell with makeup. After I created my last dramatic look (Gimme Some Sugar(pill), Baby) I became so drained of ideas. But, I am applying makeup again and here it is! This is another version of my Lusting for Mattes Tutorial

NOTD: NFU Oh 51 & Finger Paints Twisted

After having 4 days straight of bare nails, I decided to paint them. I broke out my NFU Oh 51, baby!

NFU Oh 51 takes a little while to dry and since it has a bluish purple jelly, it can take 3-4 coats to remove any blotchiness, so I like to use a base. Another reason I use a base is because I treasure my NFU Ohs. I used my Hot Topic Bright Purple as a base, layered two coats of NFU Oh 52 and then decided to add a coat of the Finger Paints Twisted flaky top coat. Twisted is a beautiful mix of gold, red, green and blue holo flakes. Finally, I topped it all over with a nice coat of Seche Vite.

Stilazzi "No Strings Attached" Portable Compressor

This post/video is long overdue, but I wanted to create a tutorial using the compressor before I reviewed it, which I recently did, my Gimme Some Sugar(pill), Baby! Tutorial.

Stilazzi provided me with the No Strings Attached Compressor for review, it retails for $250, although, if you follow them on Twitter/Facebook, they occasionally have really great flash sales.

Gimme Some Sugarpill, Baby! Tutorial

I'm always trying to think of ways that I should have done a look or rethinking of how I can out-do a previous look. Sometimes I lay in bed after posting a video thinking of how or what I could have done to improve the look. Basically, this look is from days of thinking what could I have done differently for my previous The Hunger Games tutorials. It's not that I disliked the videos at all, but it is just part of my creative process. SO I decided to record another extreme video.

This look has a mix of inspiration, Alex Box, Kabuki, and an avant garde wig I saw a while back...

A Real Beauty Blender Dupe

I was at London Drugs the other day and I came across the London Look Precision Makeup Sponge for $9.99 CDN. It looked like a Beauty Blender egg shaped sponge ($19.95 USD), but I've been fooled by these sponges before, e.g. the Basically U Super Blender Elliptical Sponge from Ulta, which was nothing like a Beauty Blender. I believe the Sonia Kashuk sponge is similar to the Ulta one as well. I have not used a real Beauty Blender, but I've played with one at a store before.

PinkyParadise Circle Lenses: Part II

PinkyParadise was kind enough to send me two more pairs of circle lenses, which I am becoming addicted to. They can really enhance a dramatic look and that is how I plan on using these two new pairs of lenses.

PinkyParadise included two pairs of lenses, a Jitterbug Lens Cleaning Kit, a pink fish Cute Animal Lens Case, a purple elephant Cute Animal Lens Case and a velcro-like hair clip.

FOTD: Colour Blocking??

I don't know if this is colour blocking since it's almost contrasting colours with lime/yellow and purple. But I was just playing around with colours and I noticed that Nymphette's FOTD challenge for that day was Colour Blocking. I was also sick (I had a tetanus/pertussis vaccination the day before) so I felt a little lazy with the makeup. :D

Nymphette's FOTD Challenge Calendar: Bold Lips

Nymphette decided to put up an April FOTD Challenge Calendar, which is always fun to participate in, and I thought this would be the perfect inspiration for my FOTDs this month. Today's challenge is "Bold Lip". I chose to do a light neutral and grey smokey eye, with heavy smoked out liner and a bright fuchsia lip.

This is the first time I've tried MAC's Quick Sizzle Matte Lipstick...AMAZING! I am normally never blown away by makeup, but I LOVE this lipstick! I wouldn't really say it's matte, but it is a cream colour and it has a satin finish.

FOTD: Nikkietutorials Rainbow Makeup

When I saw Nikkietutorials' Spring Rainbow Makeup Tutorial this morning, I knew I had to do it (even though I wasn't going out and I planned to clean all day). This is probably my favourite rainbow tutorial, because it isn't all happy tutti fruity looking. I have an issue with bright, shimmery, airy looks on myself...almost like my aversion for browns. So I was happy to see the use of some mattes mixed in with the shimmer as well.

My look isn't as blown out as Nikkie's, but I used the same general shadow placement. I also kept my brow bone matte because I like my matte Brule brow highlight.

FOTD: MUFE, The Body Shop and Extensions!

I decided to recreate my Lusting for Mattes with WnW Tutorial using a beautiful eyeshadow that I long forgot about, The Body Shop's Eye Colour in Amethyst (30). It is a shimmery purplish silver.

I look elvish. :)

NOTD: French Circus Manicure

I decided to use my nail art polishes for this manicure. I am a little out of practice in using them so my lines are a little wonky and I had to add a little thinner to it because it started to thicken. However, this is what I came up with. I may try to perfect once it chips.

I used my FAVOURITE cream purple, a nameless bright bluish purple from Hot Topic and painted the lines with Kiss Nail Art Paint in Black. I added a coat of Seche Vite on top, then taped and painted the tips black with Sinful Colors in Black on Black. Finished it with another coat of Seche Vite. Voila mes amis!

My 1960s Twiggy Sucker Punch Tutorial!

I liked my 1960s Sucker Punch FOTD so much that I decided to create a tutorial on it. I changed the crease a little, I didn't connect it to the lower lash line this time, and I changed the shape slightly to make it more Babydoll-like. I had to record this tutorial three times because I didn't like the colours I used the first time, and the second time it was sunny, then became really dark and started hailing against the window. :D

Mar 18, 2012

FOTD: 1960's Sucker Punch Inspired Look

I'm on a roll ya'll! I'm keeping my statement and this is my third FOTD for the week.

I watched Sucker Punch last night, which was probably one of the more boring movies I've seen lately (shame because it was visually inspiring). While I was bored to death and skipped through the pointless fight scenes, I really admired the makeup, particularly Babydoll's.  Her makeup was soft, cute and 60's-like with the well defined crease and huge lashes.

I decided to do a look today that had a 60's feel with a defined crease and soft pink lips. Babydoll's was pretty and I wanted mine to have a little more edge. I used my Miss Adoro WSP lashes on my upper lid, but I wish I chose ones that were a little more full. My lower lashes are from Daiso (Japanese dollar store). I decided to keep the soft pink lips.

NOTD: Konad OPI DS Sapphire

After a three day hiatus from nail polish (mostly because of my indecisiveness) I finally settled on Konad-ing my nails with OPI DS Sapphire. I haven't broken out the plates in months and months, mostly because I only really like a few of the full nail patterns, and those patterns are too narrow for my thumb nails.  I only have three Konad plates. I really want to buy the Bundle Monster plates, but I'm too lazy to order them (or I feel there's always something better to buy with my monthly budget).

I first applied two coats of my current favourite black nail polish, Revlon Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel in Stiletto, let it dry, then stamped on OPI DS Sapphire. To "solve" the narrow pattern issue, I first stamped the whole pattern to one side of my thumb nail, then I picked up half the pattern off the plate and butted it against the end of the previous stamped pattern (the to best of my ability). You can see that something went on there if you look closely, but at least there's no gaping black abyss on the edge of the nail. Sorry, I didn't get a photo of what it looks like.

FOTD: Classic Sokolum79 with Sugarpill

I made myself sit down and apply a smokey eye today. I think this look is classic me because it involves one of my favourite purples, Sugarpill Cosmetics' Poison Plum Eyeshadow. This look was inspired by a video by one of the Pixiwoo sisters from a few months ago. It's definitely a high impact look that attracts attention.

I'm also wearing another one of my favourite lip products, Wet n Wild's Mega Last Lip Color in 908C (Sugar Plum Fairy). I love all the Mega Last Colors, they're long lasting and I just love the texture.

FOTD: MAC More to Love & Full Speed Ahead

I've decided that I am going to post more FOTDs. I have been in a makeup slump for the past few weeks so maybe this will inspire me to create more looks. I am going to TRY to post an FOTD at least twice a week if not more. :o

This is one of my more subtle looks, winged liner with a bright lip. I figure the community rarely sees me with this type of look, and I do wear it often.

The Hunger Games Part Deux!

I was asked to create an avant garde Hunger Games inspired look by Evil Shades Cosmetics. I was more than happy to oblige since I'm always looking for a reason to dress up. :D

I was inspired by the Stylists of The Hunger Games, mainly Cinna, Octavia, Flavius and Portia. Some of them had very extreme style, gold facial tattoos, dyed skin, and colourful hair and lips.

I purchased the cosplay wig on ebay a while back and I recently cut bangs into it. I am also wearing grey 15mm circle lenses from PinkyParadise.

Icing Power to the Pink Nail Polish

Icing's Power to the Pink is the second nail polish I purchased in my Buy 1, Get 1 50% Off purchase. I thought it was an interesting polish because it reminds me of a neon pink version of a Deborah Lippmann glitter/jelly polish.

Power to the Pink is polish with large hexagonal and small holo glitters in a pink base. It has a slightly goopy consistency and has a rough texture, so it will need at least 2 layers of top coat.

Icing Lemme See Your Peacock

As Katy Perry said in her song Peacock, "Lemme See Your Peacock." I went on a mini shopping spree at Icing yesterday and picked up 4 nail polishes on their perpetual Buy 1, Get 1 50% Off deal.

One particular glitter polish caught my eye and it was aptly titled Lemme See Your Peacock because it does remind of the colours of peacock feathers. It is a beautiful mix of large aqua, green and fuchsia hexagonal glitters. It is a fairly dense glitter polish with a clear base.

2 Manicures, 1 Box of Sally Hansen Salon Effects

I recently picked up my third box of Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Strips when I was redeeming my Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum Points (Canadian's know the goodness of what I'm talkin' about). The difference between these nail appliqués and most others I have come across is that these are made up of the equivalent of 6 layers of nail polish, whereas others are just stickers.

The pattern I picked up was 440 Animal Instinct. It has a pink, slightly glittery base, with black zebra stripes.

The Hunger Games - Capitol Style

I was originally asked by a friend of mine to create a look inspired by The Hunger Games, but the project was pushed back by a third party... I decided to post this video anyway and design another look for the project.

This look was designed with the Capitol City people in mind. The men and women had bright lipstick and hair and some had dyed skin and facial tattoos. To people from the various districts, they looked like clowns.

My husband and I went to Anaheim the other weekend for our 10th anniversary and I managed to come across a CVS! To American's, it must sound silly that I was so excited about it because the prices and selection are fantastic.

Anyway, I came across a sale on Revlon Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamels, buy 1 get 1 50% off.  I believe that their regular price was the same price in Canada, but we almost never see these kinds of sales. I decided to give Stiletto (black) and Sequin (silver foil) a go. I didn't buy the base coat and top coat because I found the polishes to be overpriced in general so I didn't want to spend more on them. Maybe it would have made a bigger difference if I did though. The enamels are supposed to be a gel hybrid that use regular light to cure, which means that you do not need a UV lamp to set it.

This is day one, it's my Steampunk Nail Tutorial

OPI Metallic 4 Life

So I have a new favourite glitter polish. Before it was Nicole by OPI's Nicole's Nickel, an amazing mix of gun metal glitters in a black jelly. Now my new love is OPI's Metallic 4 Life, which was released with the Nicki Minaj collection in December or January. All I can say is that it is DA BOMB!

It has multi-sized silver glitters in a black jelly base. Like Nicole's Nickel, it is next to opaque, full coverage in 2-3 coats. In this photo, I have 2 coats on top of Sinful Colors' Black on Black. I used a black base in vain to try and prevent chipping.
